This KB article explains how SWIFT licensing works in various cases and also guides you with steps to activate a new SWIFT license.
For the production license, you will need to generate a pre-install file, and then you will need to apply the license. Below are the steps on how we can generate the pre-install file in both ways.
By filling out the details in the License request in SWIFT dashboard.
2. After clicking License Request, you will get the license request form on the SWIFT dashboard as below and fill out the personal information on that first page.
3. On the next page, you must select the platform types for both the source and target. Additionally, you need to choose the purpose for which you require this license, along with validation. The last option is up to you; you can decide whether you want professional service or not.
4. On the Configure License page, enter the numbers for Kubernetes and OpenShift. Specify how many clusters you want to discover, the size of the persistent volume, and the number of services you want to replicate without limits. See the snippet below for reference
5. On the last page, you will receive a summary of all the information you have provided for the license request on a single page, as shown below. Additionally, you will see your personal info, license configuration, etc. Simply click on the submit button. Upon submission, the system will automatically generate the pre-install file along with a Freshdesk ticket. The RackWare SWIFT team will then review the request/ticket and share the Production license with you if you have purchased one.
6. Once you receive the license from the RackWare SWIFT team, you can apply it to the SWIFT dashboard. Simply navigate to Settings > Licensing > License Administration, browse for the license file, and press the 'Apply License' button. It will activate within 30 seconds.
You can also manually generate the pre-install file using another method.
1. Just login to the SWIFT dashboard and click on the ‘Settings’ menu and then the ‘Licensing’ submenu as below.
2. After clicking on 'Licensing' as shown in the snippet above, you will be directed to the Licensing control panel. Select 'License Administration’.
3. After that, you will see the buttons to generate a pre-install and download the pre-install file. Simply click on 'Generate pre-install' and then download it. Once you have downloaded the pre-install file, just email it to swiftlicensing@rackwareinc.com as directed by the Dashboard below. The RackWare SWIFT team will then share the required license, and you can apply it directly through the dashboard.
