Stage-1 DR Policy for Local and Remote backup

  • Local backup typically refers to saving container data, configurations, or entire container images to storage that is accessible within the same infrastructure or network, such as a local file system or on-premises storage device.
  • For Stage-1 DRP with local backup, you need to create a Stage-1 DR policy. In the 'Backup Schedule Options,' you can configure a local backup.

  • Here, you can set two intervals when creating a local backup: 'Short-term Backup Interval' and 'Time to Retain Short-term Backup.'
  • Please note that the local backup interval must be shorter than the time to retain the local backup.

  • Once you created a DR policy with local backup then it will see as below.

  • Now you can apply by selecting the DR Policy.

  • While apply you will see another window where you must put the all details for the stage-1 sync. For that please refer to the Configuring DR policy with PT and stage sync, it has same inputs you must put.
  • Once you applied, it will start the stage-1 sync and backup will be created locally in storage pool.

Remote Backup:

  • You can create a DR policy for the Remote Backup same as Local backup.
  • Only changes are needed in the 'Backup Schedule Options': set the 'Long-term Backup Interval' to be greater than the periodicity and ensure the 'Time to Retain Long-term Backup' is a multiple of the DR frequency. Please see the snippet below for reference.

  • Before applying the DRP for remote backup, first you must create a Cloud storage in Storage pool option, for this please refer KB Article on ‘Storage pool administration’. After creating a DR policy, it will look as below.
