1. A Remote Object Storage Pool in SWIFT is a storage configuration that integrates external object storage services such as AWS S3, azure blob and so on.

2. Instead of storing data locally, objects (files, backups, images, etc.) are stored in a remote, scalable.

3. This is typically use for Long-term archiving or backups and Scalability beyond local disk limitations.


Pre-requisite: If you want to store data on the SWIFT server, you need to create at least one storage pool. Please follow below KB link to create a storage pool.

Create a remote storage pool


1. Login into the SWIFT dashboard, navigate to the Business Community & DR section tab, and select Storage Pools. 



2. Now follow below steps, 

  • Click on the New button
    Begin by clicking the New button to initiate the creation of a remote storage pool.

  • Enter a Friendly Name
    Provide a meaningful and recognizable name for the storage pool. This helps in identifying it easily later.

  • Select Storage Manager Type
    From the dropdown, choose Cloud Storage as the storage manager type.

  • Select Cloud Type
    Choose the desired Cloud Type from the supported options:

    • AWS

    • Azure 

    • GCP 

    • OCI 

    • IBM Cloud

  • Provide Cloud-Specific Configuration
    Enter the necessary configuration details as required by the selected cloud provider. This typically includes access credentials, bucket/container name, region, and endpoint information.

  • And then click on Create
    Double-check all the entered details. Once confirmed, click Create to provision the object storage in SWIFT.



Note: Pre-req: at begining Also note that there should be one local storge pool should be added.

3. Once you click the Create button, the object storage pool will be successfully created.
Please refer to the screenshot below — you will be able to see the name of the cloud storage, the selected Storage Manager Type, and the associated Cloud Type displayed correctly.




Modify remote storage pool


1.If you want to modify an existing remote storage pool in SWIFT, simply click on "Modify Storage Pool" under the Action column. Please find below screesnhot.


2. Once you click on modify button then window will be appear, where you can only modify the Cloud Configuration and Local Storage Pool sections.
For example, refer to the screenshot below showing the AWS remote storage pool configuration screen. 



3. Once you click on Modify, the existing remote storage pool will be updated with the new configuration. 





Delete remote storage pool


1. To delete an existing remote storage pool, go to the Delete icon under the Action column and click on it.

2. As you can see in the snippet below, there is an option to Force Delete. You can select this option to delete the storage pool, which will forcefully delete the pool along with all captured image groups and back.

3. When you perform a delete, it will first delete the pool at the backend and then delete the pool entry from the SWIFT CMDB.
